That's me in a nutshell!

Hi,

​

I'm currently working as a Visual Merchandise Designer for a leading Indian jewelry brand, based in Bengaluru. I'm passionate about Origami, Kirigami, Sketching, and Photography. If not these, you would find me playing Badminton, Cricket, Frisbee, Table Tennis, or Scrabble. 

 

I've been an origami enthusiast for more than 16 years and photography for over 8 years now. I've conducted more than 95 workshops, seminars, talks on origami and its applications in various fields of study. I published my first book in origami titled "Stellar Origami Nakshatras, Volume-1" in 2021. The book has received overwhelming response from across the world. In 2021, I was awarded as the “Eric Joisel Origami Award 2021” winner, by the Community for Creators of Origami.

About my Book

Stellar Origami Nakshatras, Volume 1
Author: Nikhil Suryanarayana

Stellar Origami Nakshatras, Volume 1, is published as an instruction book for beginner and intermediate level Origami enthusiasts. “Origami Nakshatra” series is a saga of more than 70 new 2D modular origami stars designed by Nikhil since the beginning of June 2020. 

​

The book presents instructions to more than 25 new module designs. It further introduces the folder to an intriguing set of over 10,000 variations, in the form of challenges across numerous levels. One can combine different modules in this series and create a combinational Nakshatra every time they open the book!

​

The book also presents the secrets of nakshatra designs encouraging the folder to design and create their own module in the series. Icing on the cake: Tips, tricks, tools, and more! 

​

Fun fact:

It is believed that there are around 10^21 stars in the universe and around 10^18 sand grains on earth. This book alone surprisingly presents the possibility of folding more than 1 quintillion (1000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 10^30) Modular Origami Nakshatras!

Educational background 

  • He holds a Master’s degree in Design in Lifestyle Accessory Design from the prestigious National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

  • He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from PESIT, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
